Severe weather time

|

The first real storms of spring blew through our area this evening, luckily we escaped with only some pea-sized hail, high winds, and a short heavy downpour. There was also one attention-getting lightning/thunder combo that was pretty close.

Instead of having the TV or a radio on tonight, we were listening to my iPod -- and quickly realized that it's way too easy to get disconnected from the weather world if you're not paying attention. You kind of take for granted that when you're listening to music, it'll be interrupted for severe weather bulletins - but of course an iPod doesn't care about the weather.

The Internet has become a great resource for getting severe weather information as it happens. In fact, there is now a web cast of the Detroit All-Hazards Radio available here. A nice alternative for those that don't have a weather radio or don't want to turn on the TV or regular radio.
