One good hockey fight deserves another!

|

It was 10 years ago today that the Red Wings' Chris Osgood squared off against Patrick Roy of the Avalanche at Joe Louis Arena. Was it a coincidence that the Wings went on to win their second consecutive Stanley Cup after this goalie bout -- just like they did a year earlier when Roy and Mike Vernon did the same thing?

Luckily for me, I was actually at Osgood/Roy fight game in person on April 1, 1998 and I'll never forget the energy in the building - it was absolutely incredible. While the rivalry between Detroit and Colorado has cooled off somewhat, there is a decent chance things could get turned up a notch again in a week or so if the teams happen to meet in the first round of the 2008 playoffs. You can bet there won't be any goalie fights though.

One of the best parts of this video is hearing the commentary from Wings' announcers Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond.
