Talking about talk on FM

|

Hot talk is done at 97.1, replaced by all-sports. WXYT is now simulcasting on both 97.1 and AM 1270 and I explore trend around the country of main stream-type talk formats moving from AM to FM in this week's On the Radio column in the Oakland Press. With all the static and interference on AM these days, it makes a lot of sense to move this kind of mass-appeal programming where the most people will listen. It's also becoming clear that fewer and fewer people are going to radio for music, opting instead for their iPods, satellite radio, and the Internet.
