The old high school gets an upgrade

|

This evening was a big one for my old high school in Fraser. For the first time, the football team played a home game under the lights on a Friday, thanks to a renovated stadium that includes new bleachers, lights of course, and a field turf playing surface. Out of curiosity this afternoon, I drove by to check it out and was most impressed, especially with the way the new playing surface looks. There's a big gold and blue 'Fraser' in each endzone and the Fraser mascot, a horse, is prominent on the 50 yard line. The field looks more like something a college team would play on instead of high schoolers. Field turf sure makes a big difference.

I don't have a clue how the football team actually played, but I do know that last year they pulled an 0-fer. Hopefully they pulled out out a win during their first game on the new field.

One of my memories of high school was being a band geek and having (wanting?) to march during the Saturday afternoon home games, which were usually being played at the same time as the U-M games. It's nice for football fans to have the games on Friday night now, joining most other area high schools.

Anyhow, I was able to take a couple pictures of the new field this afternoon. You can view them by clicking here.
