Bowling season approaches

|

Here it is August 23rd, and I'm going to our league's bowling meeting tomorrow. At least the actual bowling doesn't start until after Labor Day. League bowling is a good way to get out for a few hours, but honestly, having winter leagues that last for more than 30 weeks is way too long for me. Ideally, bowling shouldn't start until after the New Year and be done by April. Or even from November to April. Of course, the bowling centers wouldn't hear of that schedule- so if you want to be a league bowler, you're responsible for being there from September to May. Of course, no one is forcing league bowlers to keep coming back - but I'm never surprised to see a bowling center give way to a strip mall or some other development.

I loved the sign I saw in the bowling area in Ludington, MI this summer: Closed for the season... unless its raining. Perfect!
