Port Huron KOA

|

The KOA campground just west of Port Huron is an amazing place as far as campgrounds go. We've been visiting for the past 7 years and every year the owners manage to add new features/amenities along with somehow keeping things pretty much under control on weekends when the place is full of people having maybe too much of a good time.

One thing is that you'll need lots of money to enjoy all the things available. Just outside of the campground is Sawmill City- it features gocarts, bumper boats, bankshot basketball, water balloon wars, mini golf, and batting cages. They also run the train that circles through the campground. (The train ride went up in price from 25 cents to $1.00 this year). Most of the campsites feature full hookups and each year more sites have paved patios. There are also over 100 cabins for people without RVs to enjoy. The showers and bathrooms are kept up well too.

The place has several parks for the kids to play on and a sports area for tennis, basketball, and roller hockey. You can rent bikes of all sorts and golf carts too. Every Saturday and Sunday there is an all-you-can eat breakfast available for $5.

The experience is less like camping and more like being at a resort of some sort. The only thing still missing - wireless Internet. And if you plan on camping on a weekend, you'll have to make reservations well in advance. If you can't have a good time at this campground, well... cross camping off your list of things to do.
